The Changing Seasons

Thank you for visiting our "Changing Seasons" Collaborative internet project. Our objectives with this project are as follows:

  • Math - utilize graphing skills to register monthly temperatures
  • Technology - learn to create and use online photo album
  • Geography -  locate all our participants on a map and recognize how different regions experience seasons differently
  • Art - draw pictures or take photos of the changing landscape and holidays
  • Writing - describe what months are your favorite and why; describe your field trip and how the seasons affect what you are seeing

Project Specifics

September 14 - May 15, 2009

  • Register your K - 3rd grade class.  Send teacher's name, grade, school, town, state/province, country to Gina McGee. Registration is closed. Thanks for your interest.

  • Students take a photo ONCE a month, on or around the 15th of each month, at the same time. Students may illustrate what they see and include it along with their monthly photo.

  • Upload the photos and artwork to a Picasa Web album, an online photo sharing site, and write a description of what has been seen. The description for the photo needs to include location, date, time and temperature.

  • Describe or illustrate students' favorite months and activities.

  • Locate other classroom participants on a map. Compare how temperatures and season changes vary from place to place.

  • Plan a field trip to discover the changing seasons

  • OPTIONAL: Create a book with your child's drawings to celebrate their discovery of the changing seasons. I am using this one from Amazon.com.
